Lurg Hill Wind Farm

Lurg Hill Wind Farm Limited was granted consent by Moray Council on 22nd December 2022 (22/00563/APP) for the 3-turbine Lurg Hill Wind Farm. The site comprises 3 x 149.9m to blade tip turbines (total capacity 15MW) and associated infrastructure.

Lurg Hill Wind Farm Limited was acquired from vento ludens UK by EDP Renewables (‘EDPR’) in July 2021. EDPR is a global leader in the renewable energy sector and the world’s fourth-largest renewable energy producer. EDPR is currently present in the UK and internationally in another 28 markets. EDPR UK is based in Edinburgh and through its joint venture with ENGIE (Ocean Winds), recently completed construction on the 950MW Moray East Offshore Wind Farm, which has the potential to supply 40% of Scottish electricity requirements.

Lurg Hill Wind Farm was awarded a Contract for Difference (CfD) under the recent Allocation Round 5 auction, promoted by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. EDPR are progressing with plans to advance construction of Lurg Hill Wind Farm, including discharging planning conditions and appointing contractors, to ensure the project is built in time to achieve the grid connection date.

EDPR will be in contact with local communities as the project progresses towards construction to provide regular updates, which at the moment is expected to begin in 2025. In addition, EDPR will be progressing community benefit discussions. In the meantime, if you have any further questions about the project, please feel free to contact EDPR via the contact tab above or info@lurghillwindfarm.co.uk. EDPR look forward to working with the local communities to bring this project to a successful conclusion in generating renewable energy.
